Branch-wise work Distribution

A” Branch:

This branch deals with the work of rendering opinions on legal matters to various Administrative Departments of the Secretariat and undertakes conveyancing work of the Government. It also undertakes the law reform work of the Legal Department by suggesting amendments etc. in the existing Acts administered by the Department and also enacting new Acts. It also deals with the work of framing of various rules pertaining to Legal Department and making statutory appointments under the Commissions of Inquiry Act. The work of implementing Notaries Act is being looked after by A- Branch.

B” Branch:

This branch deals with Criminal litigation of the Government.

C” Branch:

This branch deals with the civil litigation of the Government in subordinate courts and the Arbitration Tribunal matters.

D” Branch:

The branch deals with work related to establish of various categories courts, Creation of various categories posts of H’ble High court and sub-ordinate Courts in the State.To allot furnitures , Vehicles etc. service matters of judicial officers, and all administrative works. Gujarat Legal Service Authority, Gujarat Public Works Contracts Disputes Arbitration Tribunal. “D-1” Branch: This branch deals with work related all service matter of staff of sub-ordinate Courts and related court cases in the state. The Gujarat state legal services authority. The Gujarat Public Works Contracts Disputes Arbitration Tribunal. Indian Christian Marriage Act, 1872 under to grant licence.

E” Branch:

This branch deals with the Charity Organization, Wakf Board and the work of implementing the provisions of Bombay Public Trusts Act and the Wakf Act. It also looks after the work relating to Gujarat National Law University.

F” Branch:

This branch looks after the establishment matters of the Legal Department proper.
F-1” Branch: This branch looks after the establishment matters of the Legal side.

G” Branch:

This branch deals with budgetary work of the Legal Department proper.
G-1” Branch: This branch deals with administrative approval of Residential Quarters and court buildings of the State.

H” Branch:

This branch deals with appointment of Law Officers at the Supreme Court, High Court and Subordinate Court level and also deals with work of appointing Special Counsels, providing legal assistance to the Government Officers and staff facing legal action in the courts, looks after establishment of Chief Inspecting Officer (Court Fees) office etc.
H.1” Branch: This branch undertakes Appointment, Promotions and Transfer and Discipline and conduct of Assistant Public Prosecutors.

I” Branch:

This branch undertakes the inter department and intra department coordination work of the Legal Department.

J” Branch:

This branch deals with the Civil and Constitutional litigation work at the High Court and Supreme Court level.

K” Branch:

This branch deals with the litigation relating to land acquisition matters of the Government.

"L” Branch:

This branch looks after the litigation in the Tribunals and Labour Courts in which Government is a party.

Monitoring Cell

This Cell monitors working of cases pending in various courts and constitution of new courts.

 

"N” Branch:

Payment of fees bills of the Law Officers.
